Test format and scoring of the TIL-I
For the admission test candidates have 1 hour and a half to answer 42 questions. Questions are divided in 4 sections covering 4 different disciplines.   The number of questions and the time limits are organized as follows:
  • 18 Mathematics questions - 40 minutes
  • 6 verbal comprehension questions - 12 minutes
  • 6 logical reasoning questions – 12 minutes
  • 12 Physics questions  - 26 minutes

Each question has 5 possible answers (identified with A,B,C,D,E), only one of which is correct.
The score is based on the following criteria:
  •  1  point for each correct answer
  •  A penalty of 0,25 points (-0,25) for each incorrect answer
  •  0 points for each unanswered question
At the end of the TIL-I test candidates will immediately see the score obtained; the same score will also be available on their personal page of the Apply@Polito platform.

How to register for the admission test
In order to register for the test, you must register on the Apply platform and fill out all the required data. Further information for filling out the Apply form are available on the dedicated webpage: "Instructions for the Registration Form".

We inform you that under the Apply section named “Select your course” you must necessarily specify 5 Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering area in order of preference. Moreover, to increase the chances of being admitted to our Engineering programmes, you need to accept to be assigned to the first place made available by the computer system, in the event that none of your 5 choices can be fulfilled.
You are allowed to change your preference order and substitute a choice no later than 31st August 2017. For quota students only, the deadline for changing the preference order and substituting a choice is 13th September 2017.
Once you have filled out all the requested information and after you have pushed “Save and Submit”, you will be able to see a new section named "TIL-Ingegneria".
From this section you will be able to choose the date and time when you want to take the TIL. In any case, before paying, check which dates and times are still available. If you cannot see your desired TIL turn, this means that it is fully booked. Therefore you will have to register for another session.

Exemptions from the TIL-I
The TIL-I exemption cases for the 2017/2018 academic year are published in article 6 of the Call for admissions to the Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering area.

Admission thresholds
Guaranteed threshold for admission to the Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering area: 30/100 to be admitted to the Bachelor’s degree programme of first preference, except for the programme in “Ingegneria dell'Autoveicolo/Automotive Engineering” which requires a score of 50/100. In both cases, from 13th March 2017 onwards, you will be able to enrol at Politecnico.
If you enrol before 29th August 2017, you will get a 70 Euro tuition fee reduction. Candidates who are exempted from the TIL-I (article 6 of the Call for admissions to the Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering area) do not qualify for this fee reduction.

Minimum admission threshold: the minimum admission threshold to be included in the ranking list is 20/100. If you pass this threshold but your score is lower than 30/100 for any Bachelor’s degree programme of the Engineering area  - or lower than 50/100 for the programme in Ingegneria dell'Autoveicolo/Automotive Engineering -  you might decide to wait for the final ranking list, which will be published on 5th September 2017 for all candidates, except for quota students, and on 15th September 2017 for quota candidates, and then verify if you are conveniently placed in the ranking list in order to be admitted and enrol at Politecnico. Alternatively, you can take the TIL-I again in one or more sessions. In this case the score obtained in the latest test invalidates the score obtained in previous sessions.

Enrolment requirements
All the enrolment requirements are listed in Table A and B attached to the Call for admissions to the Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering area, of which they are integral part.
