Test format and scoring of the TIL-D
In the admission test students are required to answer 42 questions in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Questions are divided into 4 sections covering 4 different subject areas.
The number of questions and the time limits are organized as follows:
  • 2 Logic and Mathematics questions – 30 minutes
  • 6 Reading Comprehension questions - 12 minutes
  • 12 General Knowledge questions – 24 minutes
  • 12 Design Knowledge questions  - 24 minutes

Each question has 5 possible answers (identified with A,B,C,D,E), only one of which is correct.

The score is determined as follows:
  • 1 point for each correct answer
  • a penalty of 0.25 points (-0.25) for each incorrect answer
  • 0 points for each unanswered question
At the end of the TIL-D test candidates will immediately see the score obtained; the same score will also be available on their personal page of the Apply@Polito platform.

How to register for the admission test
In order to register for the test, you must register on the Apply platform and fill out all the required data. Further information for filling out the Apply form are available on the dedicated webpage: "Instructions for the Registration Form".

We remind you that you can select the Bacherlor’s degree programme in Design and Visual Communication from the section named “Select your course”. Once you have filled out all the requested information and after you have confirmed through the “Save and Submit” option, you will be able to see a new section named "TIL-Design". From this section you can choose the date and time of your TIL test; before paying the test registration fee, we suggest you check which test dates and times are still available. If you do not see your preferred TIL-test date and time, it means that it is fully booked; therefore, you will have to choose a subsequent test date.

Exemptions from the TIL-D
The TIL-D exemption cases academic year 2017/2018 are published in article 6 of the Call for admissions to the Bachelor’s degree programme in Design and Visual Communication.

Admission thresholds
Guaranteed threshold for admission to the Bachelor’s degree programme in Design and Visual Communication: if you scored at least  60/100, from 13th March 2017 onwards you can  enrol to the Bachelor’s degree programme in Design and Visual Communication. If you enrol before 29th August 2017, you will get a 70 Euro tuition fee reduction. Candidates who are exempted from the TIL-D (see: article 6 of the Call for admissions to the Bachelor’s degree programme in Design and Visual Communication) are not eligible for this fee reduction.

Minimum admission threshold: the minimum admission threshold to be included in the ranking list is 20/100. If you pass this threshold but you score less than 60/100, you can decide to wait until 5th September 2017, when the final ranking list will be published. You will then verify if you are conveniently placed in the ranking list in order to enrol.
Alternatively, you can take  the TIL-D again in one or more subsequent sessions. In this case the score obtained in the latest test invalidates the score obtained in previous sessions.

Enrolment requirements All the enrolment requirements are listed in Table A and B attached to the Call for admissions to the Bachelor’s degree programme in Design and Visual Communication, of which they are integral part.
