Test format and scoring of the TIL-P
For the admission test applicants have 1 hour and a half to answer 42 questions. Questions are divided in 4 sections covering 4 different disciplines. The number of questions and the time limits are organized as follows:
  • 12 Logic and Mathematics questions to be performed in 30 minutes
  • 6 Reading Comprehension questions to be performed in 12 minutes
  • 12 General Knowledge questions to be performed in 24 minutes
  • 12  Territory and Society  questions to be performed in 24 minutes
Each question has 5 possible answers (identified with A,B,C,D,E), only one of which is correct.

The score is based on the following criteria:
  •  1  point for each correct answer
  •  A penalty of 0,25 points (-0,25) for each incorrect answer
  •  0 points for each unanswered question
How to prepare for the admission testTo learn about the prior knowledge requirements for the admission test, check the following webpage: http://orienta.polito.it/en/entry_requirements
In order to get ready for the admission test, we suggest you the following:
  • You can consult the contents of the previous years’ admission tests by clicking on the pages of each Bachelor’s degree programme, under the section named “"Iscrizione al primo anno"/ “First-year enrolment”
  • After the registration on the Apply@polito platform, on your personal page you will have at your disposal specific multimedia materials that can help you prepare for the admission test. A test simulator is also available.
Where register for the admission testYou must register for the admission test through the online registration service of Politecnico di Torino, called Apply@polito, where you will find all the information for the registration.
How much it costs and how to pay
The TIL registration fee is: € 50,00 The amount paid cannot be reimbursed under any circumstances, nor it can be considered valid for TIL sessions other than the one for which the candidate had registered. When you complete the TIL registration procedure, you will receive an e-mail confirming your registration. There are several payment methods:
  1. Credit cards (Visa and MasterCard only – American Express is not accepted): if you pay by credit card, your payment is immediate and you will be charged a bank commission. At the end of the operation, you can get a paper receipt with the payment details.
  2. PagoPA, an electronic payment system which allows users of online banking services to choose a bank or a payment institution (defined as “Payment Service Provider” – PSP) among those recognized at national level
  3. Modulo Avviso Pagamento – MAV (electronic deposit slip) . This method generates a deferred payment.
If you want to pay by MAV, follow these steps:
  • Log into your Apply page and select the day and time when you want to take the test
  • Select the MAV payment method
  • Print the slip containing the MAV code that you need to use for the payment
  • Pay at any bank counter or through the online banking service
  • After you have paid, go back to the page where you downloaded the slip containing the MAV code and insert the date of payment “Confirm” the operation
You can pay your MAV at any bank counter or through the on-line banking service of your own bank. If you wish to pay at a bank counter, you shall print your MAV and show it at the bank counter. If you pay through the on-line banking service of your bank, you must use the code generated by the system, without having to print the MAV. The MAV is a univocal code and can be used only for the credit amount generated at the moment. The MAV will be valid until the payment is made. A bank commission is applied for any MAV transaction. The payment will be automatically recorded within five days from the date of payment (after the bank has sent the data to Politecnico).
Please note that if you pay your MAV after 5.00 p.m., the bank might not record the payment within the same day (you shall verify with your bank their recording schedule). This could be a problem if the payment is made on the last date of the deadline.
ATTENTION: the use of the deferred payment method (for instance, a preprinted notice of payment) is valid solely and exclusively if it is supported by a self-declaration of the payment date which certifies that the payment was made before the deadline for payments on Italian territory. The self-certification must be submitted within the same deadline. If your self-certification is found to be false or incorrect, or if the bank does not confirm your payment within 5 days,  the registration for the test - or the test itself - will be cancelled.
