A graduate in Architecture Sciences knows architectural works by their logical, formal, constituent, structural and technological aspects; and by their relation with historic, physic and environmental aspects. Thanks to these skills, this profession can vary in realizing, managing and increasing the value of buildings and territory. For example a graduate can cooperate in planning and managing public and private works, in writing town plans and in restorating buildings.
A graduate interacts with economy, history, social development and engineering problems, because planning activitis are based on these fields. Furthermore his/her multidisciplinary knowledge enables him/her to answer the requests of the working market, which is in continuous evolution.
A graduate in Architecture Sciences has a lot of employment opportunities all around Europe and specific skills in architectonic plannings and town planning. He/She can work in public or private bodies, engineering societies, industreis, building companies, etc. He/She can also work as a freelancer: there is a specific Roll for Architects, on which a graduate, after having passed the exam, can be put as Junior Architect (section B).
There is a single curriculum for this course. During the three years lectures include topics like mathematics, design, architecture, history of architecture, town planning, geography, etc.
The final exam is the critical reworking of the experiences made during the course and the closer examination of some topics chosen by the student.
Lab activities are very important in this course. The main activity is planning, pointing on various aspects, scales and integration of different topics. There are three different labs during the years: Architecture - Town Planning; Architecture - Restoration; Architecture - Technology.
There is a great deal of optional courses and workshops (in order "to use" new technologies not avaliable during academic lectures) focused on the closer examination of some specific themes. Study journey and visits to important sites are arranged.
The final test consists in the public discussion of a dissertation or of a written thesis: the assesments of the student is the result of the whole university career and of the final exam.
The Bachelor (Laurea di I livello) gives access to two Master of Science (Laurea specialistica):
These two Masters form an architect completely autonomous in his/her works: planning, managing, town planning, managing of building precesses.
After having passed the exam it is possible to be put on the Roll of Architects (section A).
Master of Science Degree (Laurea specialistica) in Architecture (Construction)
The aim of this Master is to form an architect who can follow the whole iter of a project, knowing the relations between architecture and construction. A particular interest is given to materials and care of architectonical heritage, to the sustainableness and innovation of buildings and structures, to the relationship between structure and its form.
Master of Science Degree (Laurea specialistica) in Architecture (Urban and Territorial Design)
The aim of this Master is to form an architect who has deep knowledge of problems and planning techniques of buildings and of their context (urban and territorial scale) and who can manage urban and territorial transformations.
Great interest is given to the upgrading of cities and territory, to interactions between new buildings and environment, to interactions among infrastructures, environment and quality of open spaces.
Is it necessary to attend a Master of Science (Laurea specialistica) after the Bachelor? This course forms a professional able to enter the working market, using his/her skills and knowledge. the Master is requested to work as a freelancer.
